EXPLANATION

This ranking was extremely difficult to resolve. While each of the three book had their own superlatives, we focused our attention on which book would help the most students. Both of the "2400" books are geared toward advanced students, but the majority of students probably do not consider themselves advanced enough to utilize the majority of strategies in the "2400" books. We certainly agree that all students will benefit from reading and applying the strategies in either of these books, but in the end we felt that Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2007-2008 was appropriate for the vast majority of students, and that all students would benefit from reading and applying the strategies in it. Hence, we awarded top honors to Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2007-2008.

All three of these books are excellent choices. Indeed, an individual student may find that she prefers one of the lower ranked books because of its more extensive set of strategies.

In order to decide which text is preferable the reader should ask herself which is more important - ease of reading or an extensive set of strategies? If the answer is the former, then select Up your Score... If the answer is the latter, then either Kaplan SAT 2400 or Barron's SAT 2400 is an excellent choice.
