ACT Accepted Everywhere?
March 19, 2007 - USA Today

There were (past tense) two colleges who refused to accept the ACT, but now they have fallen. Last year Wake Forest University decided to accept ACT scores and Harvey Mudd College just recently decided to accept ACT scores from its 2007 applicants.

Now the ACT is accepted at every 4-year college that requires or requests a college entrance exam (CEE).

The ACT has seen dramtic growth in states that used to be the exclusive domain of the SAT and the reasons for this are numerous.

In October of 2005, the SAT was incorrectly scored and the error affected some admissions decisions. Lately, there have been unconfirmed reports of entire SAT exams being reused. While it is highly unlikely that a student would have taken the same test previously it is disturbing to know that the millions of dollars the College Board takes in as fees is not being used to construct new exams, rather it is being used for some other purpose, though College Board will not share with us what that purpose is.

Many students do better on the ACT than the SAT. The ACT is widely regarded as a better test than the SAT by those who know tests so it is not surprising that the ACT is getting its due after so much time.

CEEAE.org NOTE:
We have been recommending that every student applying to colleges should take both the ACT and SAT, and this news just confirms our intuition.
